The CoolStream
We value the best of what came before and what we hear now, so we wanted to create a place where the past and present aren't separated; where you could go from Ella Fitzgerald to Marcus Miller, or Miles Davis to Cecile McLorin Salvant, as well as hearing any number of brand new discoveries. That's the kind of radio we were inspired by. Sadly, it's harder to find that kind of programming and radio these days. That's why we created The CoolStream.
We wanted to present more of that middle ground between the old school approach that only cared about deifying the past and formats that completely disregarded much of jazz legacy and forced musicians to conform to a templated formulaic sound to get airplay. Both idioms ultimately stifle the creativity of musicians.
So here want to be a bridge for that creativity and growth. Jazz has so many colors, shades and tints that need to be heard and we want to present as many of those as we can.
